I Took The SK-II Magic Ring Test!

skin test machine

I was at Pavilion, KL the other day and I decided to drop by the SK-II counter at Parkson. I knew about their skin analysis from the ads I've seen on Youtube. It made me curious to know about my current skin age.

Here's the Magic Ring that some of you are curious about. No surprise, is BIG and RED. Looks a little like a helmet to me. Lols.

How to treat damage hair?

Girls playing jenga

I was with 3 lovely ladies playing Jenga and for the first time, we're instructed to build them rather than taking the blocks down. Just like our hair, a weak strand comes with plenty of holes, due to the loss of keratin, that needs to be patch up to make it stronger. With Dove Intense Repair range, it's doing just that.

Dress Shirts for Men by Wayne Lowe!

black men shirt

CNY is around the corner and if you are looking for some last minute shopping, here's something for you because nothing is easier than to sit in front of your computer and start clicking.

Wayne Lowe is an online retailer for men's dress shirt. The team consist of a group of everyday people coming from different corporate backgrounds that faces one similar problem, Malaysian heat. They realised that most mass market dress shirts are rather uncomfortable to wear due to the hot and humid weather we encounter daily. And as we get toasted under the blazing sun, the feeling of lesser quality fabric get "glued"onto the skin feels repulsive at times.

Cerro Qreen Makeup Brushes [Review]

makeup brushes

Sorry, the brushes are a little dirty cause I started using them already.

Based in the US, Cerro Qreen have been producing makeup brushes that helps simplify the way we girls do our makeup. Beauty junkies may love to own more than one brush set but as beginners in makeup, you really only need the basics. Face, eyes, lips and brows!

This New Year, I'm starting with a Crystal Clear Skin.

crystal clear skin

I can now scratch "Try SK-II" off my bucket list.

I had a great start for 2014, giving myself the best gift of all, crystal clear skin...

Okay fine, it sounded cheesy but honestly, who doesn't want crystal clear skin. I'm sure most beauty fanatics are very much keen to try this product at least once in their life.

10 things I will tell my 17-year-old self.

fingers on ears expression

As we get older, we get wiser. Well, not everybody but majority will because we learn from experiences. Things that matter to you when you were younger may not be as important now, our priority changes as time goes on. The reason I'm writing this is because a good friend of mine said that my blog can use a little more me, as in a little more about my personal life. She's right because as I scroll through this blog, all I see are product, product, product, events, product, lazy post, event, product... I find it lack of character and originality, heck, I can't even find myself in there.

Since writing is apart of my life, why not spice things up.  So here's to more about me.

Olay Regenerist Advanced Cleansing System [Review]

cleansing brush

girl with cleansing brush

Olay Regenerist Advanced Cleansing System is a revolutionary cleansing device that I feel is inspired by the Clarisonic. It claims that this 2 speed rotating brush delivers up to 4 times better cleansing than normal hand washed face. It helps to clear away dirt and makeup to deliver an advanced cleansing experience to reduce pores clogging issues.

It claims that this helps with anti-ageing but I truly don't know how this works for that because unless you use this together with their sample size Skin Renewal Cleanser (20ml) that comes along with the brush, it doesn't make any sense to me. All I know with this, it will definitely change the way you feel about traditional cleansing completely.

Whether you have an oily or dry skin type, a brush cleanser is necessary in this era because most of us wear makeup everyday. Especially if you are wearing face makeup such as BB creams, primers, foundations and etc, you will need a good deep cleansing system because no matter how great your face makeup is, it will still clog your pores one way or another.

The Skin Renewal Cleanser has tiny beads and acts like a gentle scrub, it doubles up fairly well with the brush but I personally prefers to use it with my own cleanser my cleanser comes with a cooling effect.

I only use this at night on days where I wear face makeup or just on days I feel my skin needs a deep cleanse before mask. I focus heavily on my forehead, nose, chin and my hairline, basically places where I get most clogged pores. Oh, also I let it run through my lips gently for mild lip exfoliation to get that smooth, kissable lips! I feel the 2x speed is a bit too fast and harsh for my skin, so I use the x1 speed while gently going across my face in circular motion. Yes, I do my neck too when I'm free. Then I'll just plug the head out for rinsing.

The brush heads clings firmly onto the device, no one time I ever felt it was coming off. It uses 2AA batteries (included in the pack) that will last you quite a lot of face washes before the batteries die on you. Plus, AA batteries are easily accessible everywhere. It was a bit tough to open the battery compartment but its also good to ensure no water enters to spoil the whole thing.

My only concern is that usually with brushes, we are encouraged to change the heads every 3 months. I'm not too sure if Olay sells the brush heads separately because I don't think I want to buy the whole set again every time the brush goes ugly. Something to ponder on.

Update: Thanks you one of my reader, Arpita, Olay do sell the heads separately. 2 for RM29+. Check it out!

How to get Pretty Nails & Win 2 bottles of Sally Hansen & Nicole by OPI Nail Polish? Or do you prefer to win a Grand Prize worth RM550?!

glitter polish

Are you attracted just by looking at those glittery Selena Gomez collection? Well, stay tuned because you may just be lucky enough to win not one but TWO nail polishes from Nicole by OPI or Sally Hansen of your choice!

colourful nail polishes

I was at a workshop a couple of weeks back, learning about the easy steps of DIY nail art. I love painting my face and I love painting my nails but I was not blessed with creativity. So let's see how the pro does it:

Step 1: Apply cuticle remover gel/oil to soften the cuticle
Product used: Sally Hansen Instant Cuticle Remover

Step 2: Gently push cuticles back
If you don't plan to invest in a metal cuticle pushes (even though I highly encourage it), you can just buy the cheaper wooden cuticle pusher. Reminder, you will need to change the wooden sticks often.

Step 3: File and Buff your nails
File them to the shape of your choice and buff your nails not only to smooth out uneven ridges but also, buffing helps provide health benefits such as stimulating blood circulation for healthy nail growth.
Bet you didn't know that, did you!
But please don't buff too often or vigorously, buff them about once a month will do.

Step 4: Base Coat/Treatment
Product used: Sally Hansen Miracle Nail Thickener

Step 5: Paint your nails and add some BLING-BLING!
Any mistakes, just use remover to fix it :) No need special pen like the pros.

Step 6: Let them dry, completely!
Product used: a cheap china fan that is meant for cooling down your laptop. They just plug into a power bank, GENIUS! I have one at home too. Lols.

Product used:
a good mix of Sally Hansen Hard as Nails Xtreme Wear, Nicole by OPI Selena Gomez Collection and Gumdrops Collection.

Then, everybody tried their best to copy.

Here're some of my creations...

After everyone is happy playing with the polishes, GROUP PICTURE!

After the workshop, I was given a choice to select a couple of polishes from each range. I was craving over the Nicole by OPI Selena Gomez Glitter polishes and Gumdrops collections but I can only select 3. So, I went to Watson and bought 3 more to satisfy myself.

Of course, I'm keeping the receipt because I'm planning to join the Love4Nails Nail Art Contest for a chance to win a weekly prize worth RM100 and the Grand Prize worth RM550. I will explain more further down.

I bought (left to right) Sweet Dreams, A-Nise Treat and Inner Sparkle.

Above are some of the other Sally Hansen nail polishes I already own.
(left to right) Commander in Chic, So Much Fawn, Ruby Sequin and Sun Kissed.

Here's a nail art tutorial that I've learnt from the workshop!

Using nail polishes above and a missing base treatment coat.

Step 1: Apply Sally Hansen Miracle Cure treatment as base coat to all nails.

Step 2: Using Sally Hansen Complete Salon Manicure in Commander in Chic as the base nail color. 2 coats is sufficient and let them dry.

The Complete Salon Manicure is great because it comes with 7 benefits of a salon manicure in 1 bottle. It has base coat, strengthener, growth treatment, color, top coat, chip-resistant and gel shine finish!

Step 3: where the art begins. Using the Nicole by OPI Gumdrops in A-Nise Treat leaves a rough, sandy, matte black glitter finish on the nails.

Textured matte nails have become a trend recently and everybody loves them! Not only it looks super cool on the nails, it's easy-peasy to apply and extremely fast drying. Only downside, removal is a pain in the ass. Thus, I suggest to use good, strong removers such as the Sally Hansen Extra Strength and Extra Fast remover that comes with Vitamin E to promote healthy nails.

Step 4: Use 'Em Chucky Glitters!

Yes I had a hard time with getting them all in one place too! Well, the trick is to remove as much liquid from the brush and quickly DAB, DAB, DAB, DAB, DAB, DAB, DAB... on the same spot you wish to built it up. It can be tough to dig out the amount of big glitter flakes but with practice, YOU CAN DO IT GIRL!

Nicole by OPI Selena Gomez Collection in Sweet Dreams

I focused it on the tip of the nail.

While the other design, I just simply apply 2 layers of the glitter polish on with no precision at all.

Step 5: Protect with a top coat.

I am crazily in love with this Sally Hansen Insta-Dri Anti-Chip Top Coat. The bomb diggity fo shizzle! Although, it doesn't give that super glossy effect, it dries quickly and will help your colors to last all week without chipping.

I don't apply them on the matte sandy polishes because they are long lasting by itself and you don't want to ruin the whole purpose of it being a matte polish. Thus, I only apply on those nails with regular and glitter polish.

My current polish remover :D
They've changed the packaging of the bottle, same shape but different design.
